Monolith
Exhibitions
The first Monolith Exhibition curated by Guy NorCal - “Blue World”
Before it grew into curation, the initial idea for MONOLITH Gallery was to create a better viewing experience for art online. Most of the platforms used an “Instagram” like gallery, where you scrolled through the art like social media and only spent a few seconds looking at any given artwork. It did not lend itself to the viewing experience you would have in a museum setting, where you would slowly walk around a gallery and spend much more time gazing at each artwork, really breathing it in.
MONOLITH Gallery reinvented the art viewing experience with the concept that art should have a grand viewing experience, like as if it came down from the sky like a giant monolith into the setting of a beautiful landscape. The augmented reality technology was not there yet, so we worked with world-class artists to create halls, like halls in a museum, that were named after them. The artists that we worked with were: Jerad Armijo, Ayla El-Moussa, Neil Burnell, Carmilla, Samantha Cavet, Chelsea Mealo, GLOWA, Joanne Hollings, Ryan Koopmans, Michelle von Kalben, Mae, Reuben Wu, Obscura, Onyro, Pastel Papi, Cole Rise, Omar Z Robles, Tony Sellen, Cath Simard.
There were a total 227 exhibitions showcasing thousands of artwork from over two hundred artists.
